SUPPORT SACRAMENTO UNCONDITIONALLY
So all over myspace n twitter Ive seen several conversations about Sacramento not supporting their city. Most recently I was observing a convo with @NorCalChika n @CopePhotos on twitter. Chika posted a flyer from the bay and it displayed a show with emcees, breakdancers, graffiti, artists, etc. And the question came up on why dont we (Sac) have these kind of events?! Chika says it usually ends with 40 cop cars breakin it up and the lack of venue participation in these (street level) type of events. Cope feels its not the City disrupting it but the "residents".
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you in advance to Chika for the continued stimulating topics and Go Cope for nailing it on the head.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lets be blunt about this topic...
-Sacramento in general does not support their own.
-Many individuals are out for their self but dont realize that with their Citys support that they can and will acheive higher greatness.
-A small percentage of the populace act a fool and ruin it for everyone.(real talk!)
-The stigma of street level events as being ghetto may never change but if at the end of the show there was no trouble and everyone had a great time then fuck the stigma!
-Venues will continue to hire performers from outside of Sac and more Sacramento residents will attend those events over the local talent.(and thats bullshit!)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
If there are any true Sac Supporters that want to put a show together and are committed to it then hit me up please.
If there are any loyal, committed Sac Supporters that want to create a movement count me in!

Maximize your Crowd, VIP and Alcohol sales!
For those non-industry people who see this title you're probably thinking damn! another way for the club to rape me of hundreds of dollars! OK So you are paying a crazy marked up price for Grey Goose, Patron or whatever bottle and a small cramped booth but noone forced you to reserve the booth dumbass!
Here is what Im suggesting and even better it doesnt have to be specifically for the VIP. You have bottle service.... Offer "keg service". Right away you're thinking thats only good for bars and clubs that are of a casual (and wild) crowd... Nope and this is why. I know you have seen the small pony kegs or even party balls right? well yes perfect for the bar scene but for upscale spots simply dress it up. Place a wrap that has your logo around the keg/ball that gives it a more classy look but plain n simple the contents has yummy beer. Upscale crowds dont always want upscale drinks.
How does this benefit the club?
1) If you're amongst the first to do it then advertise so! "Now offering Keg Service!"
2) Its inexspensive to offer!
3) Customers feel they got a deal because they're not paying an extravagant amount on a bottle or two!
4)It doesnt have to be limited to VIP booths. An inside table or patio table will do!
5) Many customers actually like beer over mixed drinks/shots!
6) You now have an added draw and customers will go to your venue for "keg service"!
7) You can even create your own mini-VIP with "keg service"!
8) Figure out what makes sense price-wise and change up with domestic, foreign n premium beers!
9) You will have beer vendors knocking down your doors to be your exclusive keg vendor!
10) Hire me as your consultant!!

RE-INVENT YOURSELF or DIE!
lol OK so a lil harsh on the topic but as you read you will get my point. In any business you may get to a point where you have hit your pinnacle and you either a) Be creative/innovative and make some changes or b) Stay comfortable in the position you're in and do nothing.
Heres a couple examples...
"K-Mart" has long been a staple of retail culture in the US for years and for many years dominant in the retail industry. When they reached their peak they did nothing... well nothing except watch Wal-Mart build an empire all around them and knockin then off their pedestal making K-Mart a big FAILURE. The blue light special is practically extinct these days. They got comfortable that they were at the top and noone could touch them... not a smart move at all.
"Wal-Mart" of course had humble beginnings in the south and spread world-wide like a wildfire. They were innovative by owning and controlling distribution centers and transportation thus giving them more capital to allow lower priced items to their customers. Then they decided to go Super. Risky yet it definitely paid off. Not only did they monopolize with their cheaper durable goods but now they have groceries. Granted their quality isnt great and customer service is dismal but its a one stop shop for just about everything and at a lower price than most other spots. Mark my words if Wal-Mart falls it will likely come from within.
OK sorry for the long analogy. Let me reel it back in.
-If you're a DJ and you're not loading new music all the time, practicing DJing, seeing new trends (like video mixing) and making your set something extraordinary that people wanna see then "Epic FAIL".
-If you're a Promoter and you're not networking 24/7, not building a database of contact info, not being "seen out in the scene" making what you're truly worth then "Epic FAIL".
-If you're a performer of any kind and you're not steady practicing your skills, not opening your mind to new things, not knockin on doors, not shakin hands, not being humble, not being passionate, not being business-minded then "Epic FAIL".
Lets not be an Epic Fail.
