lol OK so a lil harsh on the topic but as you read you will get my point. In any business you may get to a point where you have hit your pinnacle and you either a) Be creative/innovative and make some changes or b) Stay comfortable in the position you're in and do nothing.
Heres a couple examples...
"K-Mart" has long been a staple of retail culture in the US for years and for many years dominant in the retail industry. When they reached their peak they did nothing... well nothing except watch Wal-Mart build an empire all around them and knockin then off their pedestal making K-Mart a big FAILURE. The blue light special is practically extinct these days. They got comfortable that they were at the top and noone could touch them... not a smart move at all.
"Wal-Mart" of course had humble beginnings in the south and spread world-wide like a wildfire. They were innovative by owning and controlling distribution centers and transportation thus giving them more capital to allow lower priced items to their customers. Then they decided to go Super. Risky yet it definitely paid off. Not only did they monopolize with their cheaper durable goods but now they have groceries. Granted their quality isnt great and customer service is dismal but its a one stop shop for just about everything and at a lower price than most other spots. Mark my words if Wal-Mart falls it will likely come from within.
OK sorry for the long analogy. Let me reel it back in.
-If you're a DJ and you're not loading new music all the time, practicing DJing, seeing new trends (like video mixing) and making your set something extraordinary that people wanna see then "Epic FAIL".
-If you're a Promoter and you're not networking 24/7, not building a database of contact info, not being "seen out in the scene" making what you're truly worth then "Epic FAIL".
-If you're a performer of any kind and you're not steady practicing your skills, not opening your mind to new things, not knockin on doors, not shakin hands, not being humble, not being passionate, not being business-minded then "Epic FAIL".
Lets not be an Epic Fail.
Hey Im just sayin'
